Seminar: Tamil Information Technology, Tamil Resources & Project Madurai on the 14th of February 2015 with International Guest Speaker: Dr. K Kalyanasundaram 

Dr. K Kalyanasundaram is a Research Associate in Chemistry at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Switzerland. He is one of the founders of Project Madurai and the International Forum for Information Technology in Tamil (INFITT). He is also the recipient of the Sundara Ramasamy Award for Contributions to Tamil Computing / Tamil IT, Tamil Literary Garden (University of Toronto); and the University of California, Berkeley Tamil Chair Award for “Taking Tamil to the e-World”.

On 14 February 2015, Dr Kalyanasundaram gave an inspirational and talk on his journey with Project Madurai and the challenges he has faced.

Under Dr. Kalayansundaram’s leadership and initiative, Project Madurai has become an invaluable resource of Tamil lovers around the world. Dr Kalyanasundaram is the creator of the Tamil font ‘Mylai’ – the first Tamil computing font in the 1980s and pioneered Tamil computing.  His invaluable work has made available many classical works of Tamil to a whole new generation of Tamil readers.

We thank him for visiting us at the Australian Tamil Academy and for his ongoing work in perpetuating Tamil classics.
