We are proud to announce the winners in the inaugural SBS National Languages Competition! Congratulations to both Vaiga Karthik (People’s Choice Winner) and Kathir Janaki Sakthivel (Judge’s Choice Winner) in winning their respective categories. We are very proud that our school students were the only Tamil students in top 24 out of 20,000 entries.

Vaiga Karthik & Kathir Janaki Sakthivel will be flown to Sydney to receive their award (iPad mini) and certificate at a ceremony in Sydney at the CLA National Languages Conference on Saturday, 8 October 2016 at the University of Sydney). Congratulations Vaiga & Kathir!

The theme for the 2016 SBS National Languages Competition was ‘what does learning language mean to you?’ 72 national finalists from across the country were announced on 30 August and one winner from each of the three categories was selected by an SBS judging panel including Director of Audio and Language Content, Mandi Wicks, SBS Arabic24 presenter Heba Kassoua and TV screenwriter, columnist and author Benjamin Law.
